Topshop returns to UK High Street through John Lewis partnership

Topshop and Topman are set to return to the UK high street through a new partnership with John Lewis, marking a significant move for both brands after several years of limited physical presence.

From February 2026, John Lewis will stock Topshop clothing in 32 of its stores and Topman in six stores. Both brands will also be available online via the John Lewis website, broadening their reach to customers nationwide.

Michelle Wilson, managing director at Topshop, commented: “We’re excited to partner with John Lewis, a trusted name in British retail, to bring Topshop and Topman to high streets across the country. This partnership is a key step in our mission to bring the best of fashion to everyone, engaging with shoppers in real life and delivering the style and quality they expect from our brands.”

The initiative follows a series of efforts by Topshop to reconnect with customers in person. Last month, Topshop announced it will hold a residency at Liberty in London, featuring a curated clothing range and immersive visual experiences in the Liberty atrium. In June, Topshop and Topman held their first runway show in seven years to celebrate the relaunch of their website and present their autumn collections.

The brands’ journey since the collapse of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group has been eventful. In 2021, Asos acquired Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and HIIT for £265 million, plus £30 million for remaining stock, in a deal totalling £295 million. However, in September last year, Asos sold a 75 per cent stake in the brands to Heartland, the investment firm of Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, for £135 million, retaining a 25 per cent stake.

The sale formed part of Asos’s broader refinancing strategy, which also included a £250 million convertible bond offering due in 2028 and repurchasing a portion of its outstanding £500 million convertible bonds due in 2026. The company also extended its facilities agreement with Bantry Bay Capital to May 2027, with an option for a further 12-month extension.
