Co-op partners with PayPal

Co-op has partnered with PayPal, to offer more secure payment options to customers shopping online.

Customers ordering via the food retailer's click and collect shop can now pay for their purchases with PayPal for both click and collect orders and online home delivery.

Customers can also pay for their online shopping via Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Commenting on the news Paul Fletcher, Co-op’s head of payments, said: “Our work with PayPal will now offer additional payment options which are simple, safe, secure and, trusted by millions of UK shoppers, offering further online choice for time-pressed consumers however they choose to shop with us.”

Last year Co-op announced it was partnering with Just Eat to deliver groceries to customers, the service was initially rolled out to 50 UK stores expanding to over 1,000 later this year.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) recently announced it is investigating Asda’s £600 million purchase of 132 Co-op retail sites. The regulator said that it is considering whether the buyout, which finalised in October 2022, has resulted in a lessening of competition within the UK market.
