Deliveroo has announced the expansion of its rapid delivery grocery service in London.
Deliveroo HOP, launched in 2021, is a grocery delivery service operating from delivery-only grocery stores.
The company said that two new delivery-only sites have been opened in partnership with Waitrose in Acton and Morrisons in Norbury.
These new sites bring the total number of HOP locations in the capital to 11.
“It’s fantastic to be rolling out our HOP service in further prime locations across the capital, bringing greater choice, flexibility and selection to even more customers and building on our existing partnerships with major grocery brands," said Carlo Mocci, chief business officer UK&I, Deliveroo.
Deliveroo HOP was first introduced in Vauxhall with Morrisons in September 2021.
The service has since been rolled out across the UK and to other international cities, including Milan, Paris, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
“The launch of Deliveroo Hop in Norbury represents another key moment, enabling customers to choose from a wide selection of groceries from Morrisons and have them delivered by Deliveroo in minutes," said Paul Dobson, sales director - franchise and wholesale supply, Morrisons.
Barry Delehanty, director of commercial sales and convenience at Waitrose said that the launch of its second HOP site, alongside the 222 shops currently offering the Deliveroo service, will help give customers more options in how and when they shop.
In recent years Deliveroo has also offered its technology directly to grocery partners so they can facilitate rapid delivery from their existing retail sites.
Meanwhile, the business has opened its first walk-in store on New Oxford Street, where consumers are able to shop for groceries in-person.
