UGG launches shoe refurbishment programme

UGG has launched UGGrenew, a refurbishment programme for its shoes.

The retailer has partnered with NuShoe, a shoe repair company, which will offer three different kinds of refurbishment option.

RENEW – which will set customers back $80 – involves a complete, handcrafted restoration. NuShoe updates the pair of Classic Boots with new bindings and a fresh Treadlite by UGG outsole. Additionally, the service carefully steam cleans the shoe inside and out with naturally derived detergents, helping lift stains, remove odor, and condition the leather.

RESTORE – which costs $60 – involves a steam clean of the shoe and a replacement sole.

REFRESH – the cheapest option at $40 – is simply a steam clean of the shoe.

"UGG has made so many strides over the last year identifying key pillars to create a brand that makes positive impact through tangible results," said Dave Powers, president & chief executive of Ugg-owner Deckers Brands. "We will continue putting the people, the planet, and our products at the forefront of our decision-making."

The chief exec added: "UGG is committed to being a more regenerative brand – one that prioritizes long-term value over short-term gain by restoring the health of people, communities, and the planet."
