JD.com launches Joybuy in Europe

Chinese retail giant JD.com has launched Joybuy in five European countries as part of its international expansion.

The shopping platform launched simultaneously in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Joybuy offers a variety of branded products, fast delivery options, installation services and interactive features on its website to enhance the shopping experience.

The company also offers a paid membership programme offering unlimited free delivery and exclusive offers across its product range.

Should customers require assistance, JD.com said they can an speak to a real person on the phone, live chat, and email in Europe around the clock.

Through its Double 11 service, Joybuy offers same day delivery, which enables customers to order items before 11am and receive them by 11pm the same day.

The service is available to around 17 million people, or around 4.5 million households across Greater London, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Oxford, Cambridge and JD.com said it will be rolled out to more towns and cities in the coming months.

JD.com said its data shows that there is a strong customer demand for fast delivery with the majority choosing same day delivery where it is available.

To enable the service, JD.com said it operates more than 60 warehouses and depots across Europe and will continue to make “significant” long-term investments in automation in its European logistics network.

Customers can also choose to collect their parcels through the Joybuy Pick-up Service at over 11,000 pick-up points across the UK, which includes more than 400 locker locations.

To support its logistics operations, Joybuy has self-operated warehouses in Milton Keynes and Luton which have a combined floor area exceeding 90,000 square metres.

JD.com said it has designed product pages on Joybuy to be interactive, with features such as 3D product views on selected products or haptic feedback on a customer’s phone to mimic the buzz of an electric shaver while browsing its product page.

"The UK and Europe have some of the savviest shoppers in the world, and we're bringing our decades of retail and logistics experience to the UK and Europe to change the way people shop online for the better,”Joybuy said. “Our investment in the UK and across Europe is focused on ensuring that when a customer clicks 'buy', they know the product will be delivered to their door with the quality, speed and reliability they deserve.”
