DHL introduces what3words to UK parcel app

International logistics business DHL has rolled out what3words location tech on its UK parcel platform.

From Wednesday, customers will be able to add their what3words address to the delivery preferences section on the DHL Parcel App. This will allow users to specify deliveries to a very precise location like the front door, apartment complex entrance, or side passage.

"We're always looking for innovative ways to enhance the experience for our customers and parcel recipients," said Peter Fuller, chief executive, DHL Parcel UK. "what3words has proven to be highly effective and we’re delighted to offer this option to users of our app."

What3words divides the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, giving each a unique combination of three words, which represent an address.

“New technology plays an important role in improving operations, reducing costs and enhancing customer service,’ says Chris Sheldrick, co-founder and chief executive of what3words. “DHL continues to innovate in its approach, and we're looking forward to helping their drivers find and make deliveries with ease, giving customers the peace of mind that their parcel will arrive exactly where it needs to go.”
