Currys tackles shoplifting with largest ever in-store security investment

Currys has announced its largest ever investment in in-store security with the rollout of headsets across stores nationwide.

The move follows a successful trial of the VoCoVo developed technology in 20 stores.

The headsets, which will be rolled out to all in-store employees by the end of the month, aim to help staff stay better connected and therefore safer on the shop floor amidst a rise in shoplifting and abuse incidents across the retail industry.

Currys currently operates 715 stores in six countries, with a total of 24,000 staff.

“Incidents of shoplifting and aggression against retail workers are continuing to rise at a completely unacceptable level,” said Matthew Speight, director of UK stores, Currys.

He added that the move, alongside a range of other store safety measures, is helping the company to protect employees and customers from dangerous situations.

The new headsets are also helping to boost the overall in-store experience for customers, as staff are now able to answer customer queries more quickly.

Additionally, call points incorporated throughout the stores will enable visitors to request assistance at the touch of a button, with the notification delivered straight to colleague headsets.
