AO opens new outlet store in Bolton home

Online electricals retailer AO has opened a “new and improved” outlet store on St Helens Road in Bolton, Greater Manchester offering discounted goods.

Known as ElekDirect, the new AO outlet stocks new products from at “heavily discounted prices”.

Previously tucked away on the Spa Road Industrial Estate, the new 26,000 square foot premises sells products that “may not be perfect”, but all appliances sold at the outlet are new, said Bolton-headquartered AO.

Star Buys and Reduced Buys offer an “exclusive” price on new items, while Clearance Buys are discounted products with very slight material damage.

Phil Martin, site manager at ElekDirect, the AO Outlet, said: “We’re looking forward to helping customers find affordable and great quality appliances here in Bolton. We’re confident that our new location will mean even more people can come and find themselves a bargain.”

AO has also established an outlet store in Telford, Shropshire in the West Midlands, where refurbished appliances are sold at discounted prices.

Last month, AO said it was supporting individuals looking to return to roles in technology - and plugging gaps in its own IT capabilities - by teaming up with Tech Returners.

AO will support 16 individuals through an eight-week programme designed to enable them to return to a technology role after a career break, with the opportunity for all 16 to apply for a role at AO at the end of the programme.
