Sainsburys lowers prices for loyalty card holders

Sainsburys is offering lower prices on around 300 items for the 18 million customers using its Nectar card or app.

The supermarket said the Nectar Prices scheme will provide shoppers with savings of up to 50 per cent on selected products. Additionally, customers will be able to find personalised discounts of up to 30 per cent off on the app or through the Nectar website.

Customers can also collect points through the loyalty scheme to use at retailers including Argos and eBay.

Sainsburys claims it is the only retailer to offer a combination of lower prices and extra personalised discounts.

“There is much more to look forward to, we will keep refreshing Nectar Prices and increasing the variety of products on offer,” said Simon Roberts, chief executive Sainsburys. “Our customers really are at the heart of every decision we make and we hope they find that Nectar Prices is an exciting way to bring them consistently great value all year round.”

A survey recently revealed the positive impact that loyalty cards have on shopping habits in the UK. Over 50 per cent of Brits said that loyalty card discounts would make them more likely to buy a product while over a third of respondents said that ‘special price discounts’ for loyalty card holders – such as Tesco’s Clubcard offers – would influence where they shop.
