Quiz and Dunelm have become the latest retailers to reopen online operations following last month’s Coronavirus closure.
In a statement, Quiz said operations will be undertaken by employees who are willing and able to return to work safely, with a significantly reduced number of employees working in its distribution centre to enforce social distancing, meaning only a standard delivery service will be offered.
The fashion retailer has also introduced a range of additional safety measures, including deep cleaning and the provision of personal protection equipment.
Meanwhile, Dunelm stated that its website has seen “significantly higher” order levels than before the pandemic, following its reopening.
The homeware retailer closed its online operations last month, following the closure of physical stores in response to the government-mandated lockdown.
Store staff have been furloughed, while executive management have taken a 20 per cent pay cut, and chief executive Nick Wilkinson have given up 90 per cent of his salary.
Dunelm said it consulted “external specialists, including NHS professionals” to advise on changes to distribution centres, and that it had received approval from Trading Standards to open its website again.
In recent weeks the likes of Schuh and Next have reopened their e-commerce arms to help keep business going.
