Lincolnshire Co-operative rolls out new inventory management system

Lincolnshire Co-op is implementing a new inventory management system designed to provide more accurate and efficient stock management and drive growth across its diverse operations.

The system will be deployed through a partnership with technology platform Trust Retail and aims to enhance accuracy of inventory files to boost sales while helping to optimise stock levels across all of its 99 grocery stores and petrol stations in greater Lincolnshire.

It aims to provide accurate stock information to Quick Commerce customers who purchase through third-party platforms such as Just Eat and Uber Eats to boost consistency between physical and digital inventory.

Through the new system, the company also hopes to reduce the workload of stores by automating manual processes and simplifying operations.

Lincolnshire Co-op is an independent co-operative society with 300,000 members and 2,900 local workers.

The implementation of the new system across all locations will be completed by early 2026.

The retailer added it has plans to use TrustRetail’s expertise in AI and machine learning to further boost its inventory management capabilities.

Andy Warman, chief transformation officer, Lincolnshire Co-op, said the solution will increase the retailer’s stock file accuracy to drive sales and reduce waste while also simplifying operations and reducing workload for its store teams so the business can focus on its customers.

“As a co-operative focused on delivering value to our members and communities, ensuring we have optimal stock levels is crucial to our continued success,” he added.

The move comes after Lincolnshire Co-op signed a seven-year tech deal last year designed to help it become a “data-led” organisation.

The co-operative roll outed a new data and analytics platform from Xiatech to modernise its existing legacy systems.

The technology, which uses AI-driven analytics, aims to provide a single view of operational data for the retailer.

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
