Asos ‘may appoint current CCO as CEO’

Asos is reportedly set to appoint current chief commercial officer José Antonio Ramos as its new chief executive, according to sources reported by The Sunday Times.

José Antonio Ramos currently serves as chief commercial officer at the online retailer.

The reports come after Nick Beighton stepped down from his position as chief executive in October 2021, which he had held for 12 years, amidst pandemic-related supply chain issues.

Ramos began his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Co and later went on to hold senior management positions at Zara parent company Inditex, Carrefour, and Esprit.

Directly prior to his role at Asos, Ramos served as chief executive of Portuguese jeans maker Salsa Jeans.

Despite bearing the impact of supply chain related challenges, ASOS listed on the London Stock Exchange in February this year.

The firm also opened a new warehouse in Lichfield, Staffordshire in November of last year, and the £90 million facility will reportedly hire 2,000 people over the next three years.
