Dr. Martens has announced the appointment of Katie Morton as its new global customer director, the most recent in a flurry of senior appointments at the British footwear brand.
Morton will join Dr. Martens on 26 October, at which point she will oversee its approach to consumers.
Morton has more than 23 years’ experience in the retail sector, having spent over 17 years at Burberry working her way up from an e-commerce manager to senior roles focused on digital commerce: head of content and development, director of development, and finally global vice president for online to offline.
Following this, she spent 10 months at Fortnum and Mason in business development, and a year working as a freelance digital transformation and e-commerce consultant.
In its most recent financial report, Dr. Martens set out a goal of reinforcing its brand the positioning and doubling down on reaching customers with new premium products such as sandals, bags, and other accessories.
Dr. Martens also reported £55 million in adjusted profit before tax, a 61 per cent rise year-on-year.
Carla Murphy, chief brand and product officer at Dr. Martens and the manager to whom Morton will report, said: “Katie has an outstanding track record helping some of the world’s most iconic brands better understand and serve their consumers. She brings a powerful combination of consumer insight, commercial expertise and deep experience leading transformation at scale, alongside a proven track record of building high-performing teams and capabilities that deliver meaningful business impact.”
Morton marks the third senior hire Dr. Martens has made in September. Earlier this month, it announced the appointment of Isadora Versiani as global product design director and Nadia Svensson as global merchandising and product director.
Both roles are newly created, with Dr. Martens having stated that the appointments “mark a significant investment in world-class merchandising and design talent”.
