Asda partners with Just Eat for rapid delivery

Asda has partnered with Just Eat to enter the rapid delivery space.

The delivery app’s customers will be able to add a selection of over 1,000 products to their baskets from five Asda stores.

The exact locations where the tie-up will be available are set to be announced in the new year and the companies said they expect the partnership to be rolled out to more stores later in 2022.

The news comes as more established supermarkets join forces with delivery apps.

In September, Deliveroo announced it is set to enter the rapid grocery delivery space with its ‘Deliveroo Hop’ service, delivered in partnership with Morrisons, allowing some Southwest London-based customers to receive groceries in under 15 minutes.

Just Eat rival Uber Eats added over 340 Shell forecourt stores across the UK to its platform in the same month.

The rapid delivery market is seeing intense competition, with firms such as Gorillas, Getir, Weezy, and Fancy having launched in Europe over the past year, all offering consumers sub-30-minute deliveries.

“We’re always looking for new ways to offer customers more choice and extend the number of delivery options available,” said Simon Gregg, vice president of online grocery at Asda. “The trial will also see Asda become more accessible to a wider customer base through Just Eat’s significant presence in the on-demand food delivery space.”
