Waitrose appoints new online and trading directors

Supermarket retailer Waitrose has appointed a new trading director and a director of online.

Charlotte di Cello has been appointed director of trading for Waitrose, while existing Waitrose partner, Laura Burbedge, will take on the role of online director.

Di Cello, who is currently chief commercial officer at Leon, will join the chain on 18 January next year.

She has previously worked across trading, finance and strategy at Sainsbury’s.

Di Cello succeeds Rupert Thomas, who is leaving the business after 17 years.

Laura Burbedge will also join the Waitrose team on a permanent basis in January, having performed the role on an interim basis since October 2020.

James Bailey, Waitrose executive director, commented on the appointments: “Both roles are pivotal to the delivery of the Waitrose strategy to ensure we maintain our leading market position on quality, ethics, availability and value for customers.”

Poundland significantly reduces antisocial behaviour, aggression and shoplifting with Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras
Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
