Tapestry promotes Fabio Luzzi to chief data officer

Tapestry, the parent company of Coach and Katie Spade, has promoted its global head of data Fabio Luzzi to chief data and analytics officer.

Luzzi joined the company in 2018 as global head of data technology and analytics, tasked with leading innovation initiatives in the areas of Big Data, machine learning and AI to improve business processes, including supply chain, inventory allocation, pricing, assortment and customer experience.

Previously, he worked at Viacom, an American multinational conglomerate operating in the mass media and entertainment sector, with interests primarily in film and television.

He joined the company in 2011 as a senior director with a focus on modelling, marketing analytics, and business intelligence. He was eventually promoted to vice president of the data science and AI division in 2021, a position he held for more than five years.

From 2003 to 2011, he was a senior manager with a focus on business intelligence at American Express.

Headquartered in New York, Tapestry is the parent company of two major brands: Coach New York and Kate Spade New York. Originally named Coach, Inc., the business changed its name to Tapestry on October 31, 2017.

In a post on LinkedIn, Luzzi said the appointment marks an important milestone in Tapestry's journey towards transforming data and artificial intelligence into a true competitive advantage.

“Over the past few years, we’ve built a world-class data foundation — culminating in our patented Data Fabric, which powers everything from advanced analytics to AI&GenAI across our brands,” Luzzi said.

He added that the firm will continue to “design, build, and sell beautiful products.”

“That will never change,” he added. “What’s changing is how data and AI are helping us do it — amplifying creativity with greater insight, and speed.”
