Schnucks launches AI platform to consolidate company-wide data

Schnucks Markets, one of the largest privately held supermarkets chain in the US, has integrated an AI and data products platforms as it seeks to boost its retail data and analytics operations.

Integrated through a partnership with Domo, the data reporting platform aims to unify fragmented and isolated retailer data while providing teams across departments and stores with useful real-time data to boost operational performance and the customer shopping experience.

The move comes after the retailer faced significant challenges in consolidating disparate data from its stores, warehouses, suppliers and internal departments, with reports created manually using spreadsheets and printouts, often leading to misalignment between teams and conflicting interpretations of the data.

The company said the new platform enables it to aggregate and visualise data from HR, finance, marketing, operations, merchandising, and supply chain into one centralised platform, enabling the retailer to build consistent, real time KPIs tailored to each employee, from corporate executives to store and department managers.

Store teams can now leverage the platform daily to optimise staffing, production, and customer service, while executives use it to monitor strategic progress across multiple states, the supermarket added.

In addition, marketing and merchandising teams can now view real-time sales data on the platform to evaluate the effectiveness of promotions just 15 minutes after launch, enabling agile responses that maximise revenue.

Commenting on the integration, Colin Lloyd, director of business analytics at Schnucks, said the platforms enables employees to focus on individual KPIs and boost the customer experience. Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnucks operates 113 stores, serving customers in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana and employs more than 11,000 teammates.

According to Forbes’ 2024 rankings, Schnucks is the 203rd largest privately-owned company in the US and the 13th largest privately-owned grocer.
