Holland & Barrett deploys new EAS system

Holland & Barrett is rolling out a new EAS (electronic article surveillance) security system across its 950-strong store estate. The retailer has signed an agreement with Checkpoint Systems to supply the EAS 2.0 programme, which will provide the retailer with loss prevention solutions and data analytics in its outlets across the UK, Ireland, Benelux and Scandinavia.

Holland & Barrett hopes to improve merchandise availability by reducing shrinkage through the enhanced loss prevention system and the visual theft deterrent offered by the door-side security scanners. The EAS 2.0 programme also enables remote access to in-store reports, and counts and analyses footfall against transaction data to calculate shopper conversion rates and improve staffing allocations.

As part of the deal, Checkpoint Systems will also source-tag selected high risk product lines. Security labels will be applied to merchandise either at the point of manufacturer or along the supply chain ahead of arriving in-store, reducing the time staff spend tagging items internally. A new label deactivation tool at the point of sale will also speed up the checkout process for customers.
