B&Q opens first dedicated TradePoint store in East London

On 27 March, DIY retailer B&Q opened its first standalone TradePoint store in Barking, marking an expansion of its offering for trade professionals.

TradePoint is B&Q’s dedicated trade brand and already has areas in over 200 B&Q stores across the UK, but the 32,000 square-foot store is its first to operate exclusively under the label.

The store offers a range of features tailored to tradespeople including 6am opening – an hour earlier than regular stores – 15-minute click-and-collect, load-and-go collection and next-day bulk delivery. B&Q says it offers over 5,500 products to take away, with a further 25,000 available for collection and delivery.

Despite its trade positioning, the TradePoint store is also open to the general public. TradePoint membership, which does require proof of a trade, offers discounts, including a 5 per cent discount when spending over £250 a month and a 10 per cent reduction for four months after spending £1,000.

Jagjit Kalsey, Store Manager said at the time: “We’re proud to have opened TradePoint Barking today, giving local tradespeople a store designed first and foremost around how they work. My team and I are looking forward to supporting the trade community with early opening, fast collection and delivery, and expert support.”

The store’s opening marks the first step in B&Q’s plan to expand its trade division into a £1 billion business. It reported in January that sales rose 6.9 per cent in the first half of 2025, making up 22.4 per cent of the brand’s total revenue.

Earlier in March, B&Q’s parent company Kingfisher, signed a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to integrate AI into the online shopping experience for brands including B&Q.
