Go Outdoors files for administration

Go Outdoors is considering administration options, potentially putting around 2,400 jobs at risk.

The outdoor equipment and clothing retailer filed legal a notice of its intention to appoint administrators on Friday, with the Sunday Times reporting that Deloitte has been lined-up to review restructuring plans.

The brand has 67 stores across the UK, which were forced to close in March due to the Coronavirus lockdown. The company's most recent financial reports show that it lost £291.1 million in the six months to 3 August 2019.

JD Sports bought Go Outdoors in 2016 for £112 million.

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
