UK homewares retailer Dunelm has announced that total sales across the 13 weeks to 26 June hit £380.1 million.
During the three-month period, revenue growth jumped by 43.9 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels and by 101.7 per cent in comparison to the same period last year.
The company reported strong digital sales growth, up 38 per cent on 2020.
The retailer previously reported that sales in the weeks following re-opening on 12 April were “exceptionally strong,” with sales remaining robust for the remaining weeks of the quarter.
Sales growth came from a broad range of categories including bedding, curtains, bathroom textiles and cushions, and newer categories such as dining furniture and decorative accessories. Click & Collect, representing approximately one quarter of total digital sales, continues to be a popular customer choice even with stores fully re-opened.
"Although our stores were closed for more than a third of the year, our strategy of investing in our digital capabilities allowed us to adapt to the changing environment and deliver strong growth,” said Nick Wilkinson, Dunelm, chief executive. "From what we have learned during the pandemic about our customers, colleagues, suppliers and our other stakeholders, we are more confident than ever about the opportunity to increase our market leadership and we will invest further in our proposition to support our growth ambitions.”
