Debenhams remaining stores to close this month

British department store Debenhams has confirmed that its remaining stores will close for good on either 12th or 15th May.

The company is dishing out 80 per cent discounts across its existing stores over the next 10 days.

The retailer, which has been around for over 200 years, said that it will close 52 stores up to Saturday 8 May, with the remaining 49 store closures expected mid-month.

“Over the next 10 days, Debenhams will close its doors on the high street for the final time in its 242 year history,” said a spokesperson for Debenhams. “Our sincere thanks go out to all of our colleagues and customers who have joined us on this journey. We hope to see you all one last time in stores before we say a final goodbye to the UK high street.”

While Debenhams’ presence on the High Street comes to an end, the company’s online business will continue via Boohoo, which bought the retailer’s digital platform for £55 million earlier this year.

Poundland significantly reduces antisocial behaviour, aggression and shoplifting with Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras
Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
