Asos appoints Jon Bennett as menswear product director

Asos has announced Jon Bennett as its new menswear product director for its private-label clothing line Asos Design.

Bennett has decades of experience in the clothing industry, most recently at Next, where Bennett spent 18 months as managing director overseeing its wholly owned brands.

He previously worked for three years as trading director for menswear at Primark, over eight years as global buying director at Topshop and Topman, and in senior buying positions at F&F and River Island.

Elena Martinez Ortiz, executive vice president for product at Asos, said: “Jon’s appointment strengthens our product leadership team and underlines the importance of ASOS Design Menswear to our wider product strategy.

“He brings deep menswear expertise and a proven ability to build high-performing product teams at scale. His experience will be invaluable as we continue to sharpen our own-brand offer and deliver more relevant, exciting product for our customers.”

In recent months Asos has made several senior appointments. In March, it announced Natasha Jeffers as its new managing director for global trading and in July named Manoja Josyula as director of product propositions and Rina Lipa as its customer-facing style dilemma director.

The firm is expanding its brand identity through the expansion of its Asos Design ranges and is planning to open its first permanent store on either Oxford Street or Regent Street, according to reporting by Drapers.
