AliExpress has launched a social commerce initiative, allowing users to earn bonuses for their next purchase through social sharing and gifting.
Available in more than 200 countries and regions, Bonus Buddies gives instant rewards for getting a friend to register on AliExpress. They can withdraw the rewards for their next purchase once they have achieved an accumulated value of €20.
The company claims that the programme reached around four million Twitter users before within the first two days of launching, with an average of 2,000 users participating in the UK every day.
“As the pioneer of the 'shoppertainment' concept, we see enormous opportunity in social commerce," said Shirly Yuan, director of the platform operation centre of AliExpress. "As the social contract continues to evolve, consumers are looking for ‘feel-good’ experiences to anchor them and novel opportunities to interact with friends and loved ones."
AliExpress has launched several social sharing initiatives across its key markets, including Invite Friends - which encourages users to get their friends to make their first purchase on AliExpress by sending vouchers - and Coupon Pals - in which users invite friends to play an interactive minigame together to win coupons.
