Ahold Delhaize USA has expanded its partnership with Uber Eats in the US to roll out on-demand grocery delivery from nearly 2,000 stores across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
The retailer, which trades under several grocery brands including Food Lion, Giant and Martins, said the collaboration will bring together a wide range of its brands onto the Uber Eats marketplace and give customers access to thousands of grocery items via the app.
Shoppers can select products ranging from fresh food and pantry staples to household essentials, with both on-demand and scheduled delivery options available.
Customers can shop by selecting the grocery category within the Uber Eats app, choosing a nearby participating store and placing an order for delivery, with real-time tracking available. Eligible locations will also support SNAP/EBT payments through Uber’s partnership with Forage.
Ahold Delhaize USA said the move provides an additional digital touchpoint for customers, complementing its existing ecommerce and first-party delivery services.
The agreement builds on the companies’ existing relationship through Uber Direct, which supports Ahold Delhaize USA’s own delivery operations by providing access to Uber’s courier network.
Keith Nicks, chief commercial and digital officer at Ahold Delhaize USA, said the expansion reflects growing demand for flexibility in how customers shop.
“Customers expect flexibility in how they shop, and that means being wherever they are – whether through our own brand experiences or trusted marketplaces like Uber Eats,” he added. “This partnership reinforces our brands’ commitments to being leading omnichannel retailers, making it even easier for customers to access the brands they know and trust.”
