Waitrose as renewed its contract with Flooid, a technology firm which provides the grocer with point-of-sale technology.
The companies have worked together for over 20 years, renewing their partnership for a five-year term.
The move comes after the supermarket has in recent months announced a number of new technology initiatives to improve its operations.
In December last year, Waitrose began installing cash automation technology in around 285 its UK stores to help streamline the back-office cash management process.
Waitrose partnered with Glory, a cash automation solution provider, to install the devices in is shops.
The cash automation devices are designed to enable enhanced flexibility and reliability in Waitrose’s back-office cash management operations.
In the same month, Waitrose announced plans to deploy electronic shelf labels (ESL) across all of its stores, completing the rollout this year.
The technology aims to reduce the time the retailer's employees spend on manually updating tickets and allow them to spend more time with customers.
The technology has rapid update speeds designed to support the high levels of accuracy needed across the company’s food categories.
