Trustly to provide Alibaba’s European payments

Written by Peter Walker

Alibaba has partnered with Trustly to help the Chinese e-commerce site’s European customers make online banking payments via Ingenico.

During its initial stage, will launch Trustly’s bank payments in 16 European markets – Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the UK.

A statement explained that merchants will get real-time confirmation when the payment is completed, while Trustly’s refund functionality reduces costs and administrative complexity when dealing with returns.

Chief executive Oscar Berglund said: “ is a force to be reckoned with in e-commerce and we are truly delighted to be one of its chosen bank payment providers for its European customers.

“Through Ingenico, we can help offer a localised payment mix, which is crucial for converting new customers and improving loyalty and satisfaction among existing ones.”

Just last week, Alipay announced a partnership with Adyen to support payment methods for the AliExpress, Taobao, Tmall and Alibaba brands globally.
