Tesco unveils Tesco Pay+

Tesco has announced that its digital wallet app PayQwiq is to be relaunched as Tesco Pay+.

Launched in 2015, the PayQwiq digital wallet app enabled customers to pay for their shopping in a “simple and convenient manner”, while collecting their Clubcard points simultaneously. Customers can pay for shopping up to the value of £250 on the app, which holds the details for multiple payment cards on it.

Mark Loch, Tesco digital wallets and group payments strategy director, said: “We are really excited to be telling customers today that their digital wallet will soon be changing its name to Tesco Pay+. The journey of our digital wallet has been an exciting one and we’ve learned a great deal about our customers and how they shop in that time.

“We believe that Tesco Pay+ is going to help the customer journey, offering greater little helps, and we’re looking forward to revealing more in a few weeks’ time.”

Tesco Pay+ is available for both Android and iOS smartphones. Further details about Tesco Pay+ will follow later this month.

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
