SumUp enters B2C payments space with new e-wallet

SumUp has launched its new SumUp Pay, a digital wallet with an integrated loyalty scheme, in the UK, Germany and Italy through Apple and Google’s app stores.

The new free app marks the mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) company’s first foray into the B2C payments space.

SumUp Pay is aimed at helping consumers save money on everyday purchases and can also be used by small businesses who have access to a rewards programme.

By using the app, consumers can also get rewarded for their everyday spending, while the app’s loyalty scheme is aimed at incentivising consumers to shop locally.

Pedro Branco, head of consumer business at SumUp, commented: “Today is a proud day for everyone at SumUp as we expand our product offering into the B2C space for the very first time.

“Our all-in-one loyalty e-wallet app not only offers a convenient payment mechanism for consumers to pay bills, purchase goods, or transfer money to their friends, but also rewards them for each penny they spend.”

He added; “With SumUp Pay, we hope to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem between local businesses and consumers, by incentivising millions of people to shop locally and providing our merchants with yet another tool to support and help them grow their business.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
