Primark to open first British home store

Primark has announced it will open its first British standalone home store in Manchester over the summer.

The retailer's new 11,900 sq. ft, two-floor store, which is located at the city's Trafford Palazzo, will host an expanded range of homeware and lifestyle items, including cotton bedding and towels, soft furnishings, small furniture, and ceramics.

The store will also include a dedicated travel shop.

“Our mission is simple: to make it easy for everyone to create a home they love, without breaking the bank,” said Paul Baldwin, trading director for home, Primark. “Customer reaction to our first Primark Home store in Belfast has been really positive, and we can’t wait to bring this exciting new concept to Great Britain later this summer.”

The move comes after the budget retailer opened its debut home location in Belfast earlier this year.

Located in the Fountain House building in Donegall Place, the shop spans 8,700 square feet on one floor.

At the time, the retailer said that the move would give a new lease of life to the Fountain House building, which previously served as a temporary home for Primark from 2019 to 2022 while its store at the city’s iconic Grade B1-listed Bank Buildings underwent refurbishment.

Since 2021, the company has rolled out its homeware collections in many of its shops globally, with products ranging from bedding and cotton towels to home accessories, decorative pieces and ceramics.
