Pets at Home appoints first CIO

Pets at Home has appointed William Hewish to the newly created role of chief information officer, as part of a move to a more digitally-led model of business.

Hewish joins from United Utilities where he has worked for the last six years leading the technology, data and business change teams. Prior to that, he held senior technology roles at Lloyds Pharmacy, DeVere Hotels and Booker.

He will report to Peter Pritchard, Pets at Home’s new group chief executive, who is due to join the company in early 2019.

The recent hiring spree also includes new chief operating officer David Robinson, who will also join in the New Year.

“William’s knowledge will play a key role in supporting the strategic IT needs of our business as we move towards a more integrated, digitally-led approach,” said Pritchard.

“[He] has the experience and know-how to help integrate our digital platforms, build systems that are fit for the future and in turn help us better serve the needs of pet owners.”

Poundland significantly reduces antisocial behaviour, aggression and shoplifting with Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras
Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
