Halfords hires new digital director

Halfords has appointed Holland & Barrett’s omnichannel director Emma Mead as its new digital director.

She joined the car and bike parts retailer last week after almost four years at Holland & Barrett, where she began as director of e-commerce.

Mead will reportedly work alongside the current digital director Matthew Gratze, before he departs for new projects in October.

Gratze joined Halfords in 2017 from Mothercare, where he was director of global e-commerce, helping to drive online sales penetration.

The company is currently in the process of migrating from IBM to Salesforce Commerce Cloud technology, with a mid-October launch planned for its new website, which will bring together the Halfords retail and Autocentres businesses onto one platform.

Group online sales were up by 9.5 per cent the full year to 29 March, with around 20 per cent of total sales now being delivered online.

Poundland significantly reduces antisocial behaviour, aggression and shoplifting with Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras
Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
