Courier express parcel firm Geopost has announced the launch of a new carbon calculator for its shipping customers.
The new tool is designed to precisely measure the carbon emissions of consumer deliveries in real time.
The move comes after several months of tests alongside a number of e-merchants.
Geopost said the tool would help it better support its shipping customers on their journey towards net zero.
The Carbon Calculator is already being used across DPD in France, the UK, Belgium, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
The company said that it would gradually roll out the technology to its 20 largest European shippers over the course of 2023.
Commenting on the announcement of the launch, Jean-Claude Sonet, executive vice president, in charge of marketing, communications and sustainability at Geopost said that the tool was "built in line with international carbon accounting standards, designed to help businesses meet the need for accurate, regular CO2 emissions reporting – all while helping them make more sustainable decision making in the long-term.”
