Food robotics start-up Bolk raises €4m

French Food robotics start-up Bolk has raised €4 million in its latest funding round.

The start-up said it will use the capital to manufacture prototypes of robots that can create meals and to test them within companies.

The Paris-based start-up, founded in 2020, said it aims to create 40 robots for deployment in Île-de-France and other parts of the country.

Bolk said its robot takes up less than two square metres of space and can serve 60 meals in an hour, including 300 different combinations, cold or reheated.

“This fundraising is an important step in Bolk’s growth,” said Bolk founder Nicolas Jeanne. “It will enable us to gain an initial share of the market.”

He added: “The catering sector is constantly evolving, and we are building a new self-service food experience, offering companies, and their staff a daily menu of delicious and eco-responsible meals at the best possible prices; meals that are made to order and produced in 45 seconds flat, therefore ultra-fresh.”
