Evri to open new £1m depot in Plymouth

Evri (formerly Hermes UK) is opening a new delivery depot in Plymouth this July.

The delivery company says the new depot which it has invested £1 million into, is in alignment with its commitment to continue investing in infrastructure which will support the growth of online shopping while creating over 50 new jobs in the area.

The new 60,000 square foot site, located on the Parkway Industrial Estate, is almost double the size of an existing site at Bell Close that was managed by a third-party contractor.

Evri will manage the new site in-house, a decision it asserts will increase capacity fivefold and provide increased control over service levels.

Ethan Treble-Westlake, depot manager at the new Plymouth site, said: “At our new depot we will be able to handle up to 480,000 parcels each week at peak times and provide a strong delivery service for the local community and a good working environment for our people.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
