Evri launches new scheme to upskill workers in AI and data

Parcel delivery company Evri Group has launched a new apprenticeship scheme which is designed to strengthen data and AI skills across its workforce.

From next month, employees will be able to join one of four pilot programmes, with successful applicants training at the Evri Group’s AI and Data Academy.

The scheme is offered in partnership with education technology provider Multiverse, which offers both level 3 and level 4 courses.

Evri said the training is aimed at employees who do not currently work in AI or data but who want to build practical skills in these fast-growing areas.

The programmes will train over 90 employees from various departments across the business in gaining hands-on skills through a series of modules, workshops and real business projects.

Following a final assessment, those who successfully complete the course will achieve a recognised apprenticeship level 3 or level 4 qualification in their chosen specialism, which Evri said will give them new skills and knowledge to apply within their current role.

The launch of the new scheme builds on apprenticeship programmes already offered by Evri in areas such as leadership and management, transport, sales and finance.

The company said that in 2025 over 120 employees received support from the firm to upskill through these schemes.

Evri has also made use of the government’s Apprenticeship Levy transfer scheme, with the parcel company pledging £250,000 in the last financial year to help other small businesses fund their own apprenticeship programmes.

“At Evri, continuous learning and development is a core part of who we are, and we’re committed to giving colleagues every opportunity to grow, build new skills and progress in their careers,” said Lyn Warren chief HR officer at Evri. “With AI and data playing an increasingly important role across our industry, this is a fantastic chance for colleagues outside of traditional tech and data roles to gain practical, future-focused skills that can make a real difference in their current roles and beyond.”
