Home electronics retailer Currys is expanding and rebranding its B2B division following “explosive” customer growth that has seen 75,000 new business customers in the past year.
Currys Business will be relaunched alongside a network of specialised business hubs, which the retailer said will capitalise on the growing demand from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as they undergo rapid digital transformation and increased cost pressures.
Last month, the retailer added three new local business hubs in Stevenage, Solihull and Exeter as part of the expansion.
There are currently hubs across 57 locations, with Currys planning to add three more this year.
Each hub is located within Currys stores and offers local SMEs personalised consultations, exclusive business pricing, 30-day payment terms, and business-relevant services such as onsite IT installation.
Additionally, Currys said the contact centre gives customers nationwide access to a team of dedicated business experts, who are on hand to help SMEs with all their tech needs such as broadband contracts, responsibly recycling end of life products, and advice on energy bills.
Currys described the timing of the expansion as “strategic”, adding that the market opportunity is “enormous.”
The company quoted research from market data company Statista which shows there are around 5.5 million SMEs in the UK representing over 99 per cent of all businesses and generate £2.8 trillion in annual turnover.
The research shows that the most innovative SMEs are spending 48 per cent of annual revenue on technology, with 45 per cent doing so to increase productivity and 44 per cent to future-proof their business.
Chris Williams, director of Currys Business said that the firm is seeing growing demand from small businesses who need and want far more than just online ordering.
“Small businesses are facing huge cost pressures, looking to save money wherever possible which is where the expertise of Currys Business colleagues can really make a difference,” he added. “After 30 years supporting businesses, we're perfectly positioned to become the UK's one-stop-shop for SMEs who want technology solutions, services and support delivered with human expertise.”
Currys added that Currys Business can help customers understand the transformational power of AI enabled technology to help drive growth and increase productivity.
Currys has launched a number of AI initiatives over the past year.
Earlier this month, the retailer launched a new AI platform for its in-store workforce to provide them with a dashboard that holds information about sales, footfall, promotions, surveys, and customer satisfaction.
In July, Currys rolled out an agentic AI video tool in one of the largest tech repair centres in Europe.
Currys said the technology will enable its customers to easily show and describe any issues with their products when seeking a repair.
