Card Factory announces new CFO

Card Factory has appointed Matthias Seeger as chief financial officer (CFO), the company has announced.

Seeger, who will join the firm on 22 May 2023, is currently the CFO of Ambassador Cruise Line limited and was previously CFO at Costcutter Supermarkets Group. He has also held senior financial roles with Procter & Gamble.

Current CFO Kris Lee will leave the company at the end of January and will also step down from the company’s board.


Simon Comer has been appointed as interim CFO but will not be appointed as a director of the Company. He has held the role of group financial controller at Card Factory since June 2021.

Commenting on the news Darcy Willson-Rymer, chief executive officer of Card Factory, said: “Matthias has extensive financial experience and I look forward to working with him again, confident that his expertise and values will support Card Factory's strategic projects and significant change programme over the next few years.”

The chief executive added that Lee had helped steer the business through a series of refinancing through covid lockdowns and a new growth strategy.

Card Factory recently raised its profit guidance following better than expected sales over Christmas. Sales for the 11 months to 31 December 2022 rose to £432.6 million compared with £337.3 million in the same period the previous year.
