Burberry appoints new chief operating and supply chain officer and CCO

Burberry has appointed Matteo Calonaci as its chief operating and supply chain officer and Johnattan Leon as its chief customer officer (CCO).

The luxury retailer said that both Calonaci and Leon will join the executive committee, reporting to Burberry chief executive Joshua Schulman.

Calonaci joined Burberry in 2022, where he previously served as senior vice president of strategy and transformation.

Prior to this, he was principal at Boston Consulting Group for more than seven years, driving business development with a focus on the fashion and luxury sector.

In his new role, Calonaci will be responsible for overseeing supply chain and planning, strategy and transformation, and data and analytics.

He will succeed Klaus Bierbrauer, current Burberry supply chain and industrial officer, who will be leaving the company following the firm’s winter show and a transition period.

Leon currently serves as Burberry’s senior vice president of commercial and chief of staff.

Prior to this, he was engagement manager at McKinsey for more than two years.

As CCO, Leon will be tasked with leading Burberry’s customer, client engagement, customer service and retail excellence teams, while overseeing its digital, outlet and commercial operations.

Schulman said that these appointments reflect the exceptional talent and leadership already present at Burberry.

He added that Calonaci and Leon have already made significant contributions to strengthening the retailer’s focus on excellence in execution and boosting the customer experience.

“Their deep understanding of our business, our people, and our customers gives me full confidence that their leadership will help drive Burberry Forward,” he said.
