Autogrill is integrating a suite of managed services and new retail technology solutions across its Italian restaurants as it seeks to boost operational continuity of its services across the country.
The provider of food and beverage services for travellers, which is part of travel retailer Avolta, has expanded its partnership with specialist in retail technology solutions Diebold Nixdorf (DN). As part of the deal, the tech provider will act as the single point of contact for Autogrill's entire multi-vendor IT ecosystem in the country.
The scope of the agreement includes the implementation of standardised and scalable services for restaurants, bars and cafés operated under different brands on motorways, at airports, railway stations and central urban hubs throughout Italy.
The services include maintenance and monitoring of Autogrill's IT equipment, including self-service kiosks and checkout solutions, as well as third-party technologies, aiming to simplify operations to boost uptime and efficiency.
The partnership will also provide technical support and solutions for Autogrill's POS software.
The multinational catering business will integrate modular all-in-one checkout platforms which can provide fully self-service, semi-assisted or assisted checkout processes. Francesca Porta, head of IT - Italy, Avolta, said that the move helps the company actively deliver on its promise to “keep the traveler at the centre” by providing an optimised service experience across its restaurants.
In 2023, Autogrill combined with UK duty-free airport shop chain Dufry to form Avolta, with the new player currently operating in 70 countries and over 1,000 locations.
Avolta operates more than 5,100 points of sale across three segments – travel retail, convenience, and food & beverage, and various channels, including airports, motorways, cruises ferries, railway, border shops and downtown,
