American Apparel makes online return to UK

American Apparel has reopened in the UK, but as an online-only retailier.

In 2016, the company - an offshoot of the original North American business operated by UK subsidiaries - was forced to close its 13 UK stores after falling into administration.

The US business subsequently failed and Canadian company Gildan bought its assets for $88 million in 2017, launching a US website later that year. Now the American Apparel brand has returned to the UK with the launch of a new website, where the emphasis is ethical and sustainability issues.

“We have deep love for our global customers, who really love and get the brand’s sense of humour and irreverent nature,” said Sabina Weber, director of marketing at American Apparel. “They also know the quality and the timeless, effortless styles that we offer and they miss having those pieces in their closets.”

Poundland significantly reduces antisocial behaviour, aggression and shoplifting with Motorola Solutions VT100 body cameras
Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
