Amazon brings cut-price Haul service to the UK as rival to Temu

Amazon has launched its ultra-low-priced Haul proposition in the UK, offering thousands of products for £20 or less, with the majority priced under £10.

The new service, which arrives following a successful launch in the US last year, is designed to compete with popular discount retailers such as Temu and Shein that have gained significant traction with bargain-hunting shoppers.

Amazon Haul is available through the retailer's Shopping app and features its own dedicated shopping experience, including separate search, basket and checkout functions. The service focuses on products across multiple categories including fashion, home and lifestyle, with some items priced as low as £1.

John Boumphrey, UK country manager of Amazon, said: "We are constantly working to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers, and this is another way to offer low prices on a wide selection of products. Now more than ever we know our customers are looking to save, and we're excited to provide more options through the shopping app they already know and love."

Orders through Amazon Haul will arrive within two weeks, rather than the faster delivery times associated with Amazon's Prime service. However, the company maintains that all products undergo the same verification process to ensure they are "safe and compliant with all applicable regulations and Amazon policies".

To encourage larger purchases, the service offers additional discounts with 5 per cent off orders over £50 and 10 per cent off orders over £75. Delivery is free on orders exceeding £15, with a standard delivery charge of £2.99 applied to smaller orders.

Customers can also take advantage of free returns within 15 days of receipt, with many drop-off locations including Post Offices, Asda and Morrisons handling the packing and labelling requirements.

The expansion of Amazon Haul is not limited to the UK, with the service also launching in Saudi Arabia under the name Amazon Bazaar, where prices will be capped at 90 SAR (approximately £19).

Currently in beta testing, Amazon Haul is initially available to select UK customers when they update their Amazon Shopping app, with plans to roll out to all remaining customers over the coming weeks. Shoppers can access the service by searching "Haul" in the app's search bar and navigating through the main menu icon.
