Aldi has announced the launch of its on-demand grocery delivery service with Deliveroo across eight UK stores, giving shoppers access to around 2,000 products ahead of a planned wider rollout in 2027.
The service will allow customers to order fresh produce, meat, seafood, dairy, bread and household essentials through the Deliveroo app. Deliveroo riders will pick and pack orders directly from participating Aldi stores before delivering them to customers.
Aldi said the initial rollout will cover stores in Ashford, Dover, Norwich, Ipswich, Letchworth Garden City, Margate, Strood and Tamworth. The supermarket plans to expand the service to further stores in early 2027 as part of a phased trial.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Customers tell us they want shopping to be as convenient as possible, so launching this service with Deliveroo is a great opportunity to make it even easier to shop at Aldi.”
Under the Shop & Deliver service, riders will be guided through each order using the Deliveroo rider app and will scan products before paying with a prepaid Rider Card. The model allows orders to be fulfilled from participating Aldi stores rather than dedicated delivery facilities.
Rob Harris, VP merchant and chief revenue officer at Deliveroo, said: “We are excited to welcome Aldi to the Deliveroo platform through a brand-new service, Shop & Deliver.”
The launch follows Deliveroo's expansion of its grocery offering through partnerships with supermarkets and other retailers, while Aldi has been developing delivery options as it expands its digital proposition. The initial service will give customers access to Aldi's range without requiring them to visit a store.
The eight stores involved in the launch are located on Victoria Road in Ashford, Cherry Tree Avenue in Dover, William Frost Way in Norwich, Hines Road in Ipswich, Avenue One in Letchworth Garden City, Zion Place in Margate, Friary Place in Strood and Glascote Road in Tamworth.
Aldi's Ashfield said the service would enable shoppers to receive Aldi products at home while retaining the “quality and market-leading value” associated with the supermarket.
