Casino partners with Accenture & Google Cloud on digital strategy

Casino Group is collaborating with Accenture and Google Cloud to accelerate its digital strategy.

The French mass-market retailer plans to use a number of new digital solutions at its stores and on its e-commerce sites to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

For the retailer’s business-to-business activities, including retail media properties, the company plans to accelerate the development of RelevanC, the group’s subsidiary specialising in data marketing solutions.

“This alliance with two major technology players marks another important step in the deployment of the group's digital strategy,” said Jean-Charles Naouri, chairman and chief executive of Casino Group. “It will enable us to accelerate two of the group's priorities: continuously improving our customer service through technological innovations such as AI applications, and accelerating the growth and value creation of our technological activities in data and software."

Thomas Kurian, chief executive of Google Cloud, said that the pandemic has shifted consumer expectations and retailer businesses “like never before.”

“Cloud technologies—including secure infrastructure, data analytics, and AI/ML—coupled with training and skills programs, will be critical to help companies navigate these market changes,” Kurian added. “We’re delighted to work with Groupe Casino and RelevanC to contribute to their digitalisation and help drive growth opportunities for their brands and the entire retail industry.”

Tom Stuermer, global managing director for Accenture Google Business Group at Accenture, said that the collaboration will focus on speeding up the adoption of technologies like cloud and AI.

“The mastery of these technologies is essential to enable retailers to quickly respond to the new challenges resulting from the acceleration of digital and the constantly-changing consumer expectations ; they will enable the creation of new services and new revenue streams,” concluded Stuermer.
