Beauty brands upset Tesco's plans

Tesco’s plans to take on Amazon and eBay with their own online marketplace have reportedly hit a bump in the road. It is thought that several major beauty brands approached by Britain’s biggest retailer were reluctant to be linked to the Tesco name.

The supermarket giant is targeting a launch by spring next year, and will sell branded items across all categories. However reports suggest that beauty brands such as Clarins have been reluctant to sell their products through Tesco’s site.

Tesco had hoped to launch the site to compete with the likes of Amazon and eBay to sell a wide range of brands and products without the need to take up physical space by stocking them in store. The site will also offer a "click and collect" service, which will encourage shoppers to buy online and then pick up at a store.
