Oracle to support Shop Direct e-commerce growth

Shop Direct Group has selected Oracle and Oracle Retail applications and technology as it pursues further e-commerce growth.

From 18 per cent in 2005, online sales grew 19 per cent in the last financial year and now represent approximately 70 per cent of all units sold, leading the online and home shopping retailer to identify the need for a flexible core retail platform to support the changing demands of its business.

IBM has been selected by Shop Direct Group as the implementation partner, supported by Oracle, and the first phase of the deployment is underway. “We required a world class core retail platform to achieve our business requirements for strategic growth,” says Carl Dawson, chief information officer, Shop Direct Group. “We identified Oracle’s solutions as key to helping us create a more efficient and standard retail operating platform of business processes and systems to strengthen the company’s foundation for future growth.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
