YouTube launches music merchandising store

Music artists can now sell merchandise and downloads through YouTube after Google announced the launch of the Merch Store.

The search engine giant has formed affiliate tie-ups with Amazon, Apple, Songkick and Topspin to offer users the chance to buy concert tickets, merchandise and digital downloads through the video broadcasting site.

The launch of the merchandise store is part of Google’s aim to make YouTube “your box office, merchandise and music store”. YouTube will roll out the store globally in the coming weeks.

YouTube has also launched its first UK movie rental service, offering films like Dark Knight and Reservoir Dogs, having formed partnered with Warner Bros, Sony Pictures and Entertainment UK, as well as British independent studios Metrodome and Revolver Entertainment.
