Tesco to launch first international website

Tesco will launch its first international website in the Czech Republic with the help of IVIS Group’s Sonetto e-commerce technology. Multi-channel expert IVIS Group won the business following a competitive procurement process.

Tesco selected Sonetto, which will form a key component of its e-commerce platform rollout, to provide product information management, price and promotion management capabilities. The first international website will launch in the Czech Republic this year, followed by further countries in 2012.

“We already use Sonetto in the UK for both our grocery and non-food websites,” said Richard Copperthwaite, IT Director at Tesco.com. “The new version of the software will be used for our international sites – it’s simpler for staff to use and better for our customers. We’ve had a longstanding relationship with IVIS Group for many years now, and have confidence in them as a partner to step-up and help meet the challenge. A partner that can deliver is as important as the software itself.”

Sonetto’s basket management for Tesco enables correct promotions and prices to be applied.
