Debenhams has selected HP ProLiant servers to meet PCI requirements.
The retailer says that the higher performance and reliability of the new servers is already helping staff to manage customer and back of store transactions in 100 stores, and the system will be rolled out across all of its stores through 2011.
By replacing all its legacy server infrastructures, Debenhams has ensured that regulatory standards set by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) are met. Its datacentre in South West England is equipped with ProLiant DL380 G6 and G7 rack-mounted servers and an HP BladeSystem to ensure resilient operations. A distributed network links the datacentres to the company’s stores, headquarters and distribution centres. In each store, HP has consolidated ProLiant ML350 G6 servers within a virtualised VMware environment to boost system performance and reliability.
“The migration process was quick and simple and the transition programme was transparent to staff ” says Aqil Nasser, technical architecture controller, Debenhams. “Since then, many have commented about fewer system failures. This means they are now conducting more transactions consistently, which enhances customer service.”
