Walgreens Boots Alliance hires Hsiao Wang as SVP and CIO

Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has announced that Hsiao Wang will become its new senior vice president and chief information officer.

Wang is joining the business from Michaels - a North American arts and crafts retailer - where he was executive vice president and CIO. Prior to that, he spent 16 years working for Walmart in a number of roles.

He will lead the strategy for WBA's IT function and the roll out of its "technology and digital innovation", focussing on advancing the company's technology platform.

Inderpal Bhandari, who has served as IBM's global chief data officer since 2015, will also be joining WBA as a board director.

“We are making tremendous progress on our strategic priorities, including transforming and aligning our core business and building our next growth engine with consumer-centric healthcare solutions,” said Roz Brewer, chief executive, WBA. “With today’s announcements, we are entering our next phase of execution and elevating our capabilities even further.”
